What Makes us Unique?
Biblical exposition
We do biblical exposition. And we teach women to do biblical exposition.
Biblical exposition is an approach to teaching the Bible. It's when a Bible teacher says what God says, how God says it, why God says it.
In biblical exposition, the topic of the lesson comes from the text. The main points come from the text. And the content comes from the... you get it.
We believe this method of teaching is the best way to make sure that the people of God are hearing the Word of God (instead of the teacher's opinions).
If you want to see Erin share everything there is to know about biblical exposition, check out this video (feel free to skip around).
Access (our stuff is free)
High-quality Bible studies can be a bit pricey. (We get it. You've gotta make money somehow). And while there's nothing wrong with charging for a service, the WTTW team has a unique burden to reach the under-resourced (especially the unreached).
That's why Erin and her buddies offer all their resources for free online.
(But if you like that pen-on-paper feeling, you can get their stuff in book form on Amazon).
Our long-term goal (delegation)
We believe that the best Bible teaching is local Bible teaching. And while it's great to have a babysitter every once in a while, the local church is in desperate need of mothers. So, while online or distant Bible teachers are nice, they're not a great long-term solution to building the body of Christ.
God's plan-A is the local church. And the women gifted to teach in your local church need to teach. And the women in your local church need their teaching.
So although we're happy to be a stand-in and provide some long-distance Bible studies for a while, our hope is that you would only use our studies for a brief time (1) to help your women get used to this approach of teaching and (2) to give your local teachers time to learn the art of biblical exposition.
Meet Erin Piner
Erin Piner is the founder of Women Teach the Word ministries. She believes the nations will be reached by the church. And she believes the church will be strengthened when women are equipped to use their gifts.
Therefore, she’s passionate about teaching the Bible and equipping other women to do the same in a local church.
Erin volunteers at The Summit Church, teaching women to exposit Scripture as the Teaching Track co-leader.
She was also a part of Summit’s staff, working as a sermon research assistant for pastor J. D. Greear, and she has served as an international missionary in Asia for over six years.
She's got degrees in Bible stuff, missions, and theology. She's currently a Ph.D. candidate for a degree in Biblical Exposition.
But Erin doesn't work alone!
Erin works with some other friends like Michal Rudolph (who helps with general teaching resources), Cheryl Sommers (who does graphic design), and Keri Bosch (who writes the curriculum).
